Saints roll on
By Mark Wilkins
Saints first team continued their winning form with a 4-2 against Launton Sports.
Marston didn't waste anytime in finding the net in this OSL Premier Division fixture, when after 10 mins Matty Holton
cut in from the left and curled his right footed shot inside the far post. Then 5 minutes later Luke Ambler was brought down inside the penalty area, Ambler dusted himself off to cook slot home the spot kick to make it 2-0. Rocky Whiting, Kane Adams and Josh Carr were dominating the midfield, passing the ball around with ease. Saints were quick to shut Launton down and Matty Holton
latched onto a defensive error, which saw him unleash his shot into the top corner to make it 3-0. A lapse in concentration then led to a Launton goal just before half time to make it 3-1 at the break.
The second half was a more even affair but Saints back four held firm, with nothing getting past McMahon and Fraser. Saints then brought on Jae Sharkey
and Kyle Downie in quick succession to add a bit of pace up front. And it was Sharkey's pace which resulted in a Saints corner, Holton crossed the ball over and Luke Ambler timed his run to perfection to head the ball home to make it 4-1. But Launton were to have the last say with 4 minutes to go, when they got their second of the game but it was scant consolation as Saints took the game 4-2.
Saints first now look forward to the visit of Freeland to Boults Lane next week in the Oxfordshire Charity Cup.
